OVERCOME the past. With Coontz Law.

We do second chances in Michigan

Let us guess: you’ve served your sentence, but you’re still paying for your past, right?

At Coontz Law, we know the system doesn’t let you out of its clutches even when you’ve served your time and completed probation or parole. That felony still keeps you from landing your dream job. Those past DUIs keep you from driving, even though you’ve been sober for years. You can’t hunt with your children because of a mistake you made when you were a kid. Your one-time sex offense means you have to wear a scarlet letter for the rest of your life.

Whatever it is, your past is still there haunting you. Let us help you be free of it.

We've got this down to a science.

At Coontz Law, we used to do a lot of criminal-defense trial work with other stuff sprinkled in. The problem with the trial work is it was chaotic and unpredictable. What’s not unpredictable are the processes of what we call our second-chance cases. They’re all actually pretty straightforward, it’s just a matter of working the system. We can help you work it, but you’ve also got to do some of the work.

Here’s what we mean by second-chance cases:

  • Expungement;
  • Driver’s license restoration;
  • Gun rights restoration;
  • Sex offender registry removal; and
  • Pardons & commutations.

 What these cases have in common is that we’re not really fighting the case anymore. We’re fighting for you.

Our second-chance case process: easy as 1-2-3

01

Case File: Assemble!

We get your case materials ready. Depending on the case type, this could mean fingerprints, drug tests, reference letters, etc.

02

Approval & Filing

Your lawyer will approve the packet for filing when it’s ready. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure you know when and why something is (or isn’t) ready.

03

The Hearing

For most second-chance cases, we only get 1 hearing. Sometimes 0. We’ll make sure that we’re prepared before we go in there, and that you are too. We’ll put our best foot forward. And if we’ve done everything right before the hearing, we should OVERCOME.

Ready for that clean slate?

We know the system has a way of keeping you in it, even after your sentence is done and over with. Let’s help you OVERCOME and get you out. What do you say?
